Name: Matt Egan

Xbox ID: Knight Rider vV

Where are you from? New Jersey

What’s your favorite map(s)? Devastation, Aerodrome, Twisted Steel

What’s your favorite class(s)? Assault, Medic

Give us a little history on yourself.  (How did you come into being a gamer? What keeps you interested in it? How did you end up in SyNdicate? Etc)

First online shooter I played was Halo 3. Then moved onto Call of Duty – COD 4 and MW2 being my favorite. At one point I had a life goal of 100% mastering MW2 (AKA, 1000 headshots with every gun), but that quickly changed when Battlefield 1 came into my life. Then about 2 months before BFV launch, @TopSide3 reached out to me and asked if I wanted to try out for SyN. And after a few solid games, he invited me to join! I was thrilled to start consistently playing with other gamers with similar competitive mindsets!

Describe your play style.  What’s your biggest strength as a player?

In BF1, I used every class with medic being my favorite. But in BFV, I mostly play Assault. On big pushes, I attempt to wedge myself in the middle of the pack and utilize cover and gun skill to out play people from longer distances and support my teammates that are leading the push - @Gravereaper26. Biggest strengths: positive attitude, comm skills, and utilization of many weapons/gadgets.

Have you learned any tips or tricks from anyone in battlefield (doesn’t have to be in SyN) that has made you a better player or was it all learned on your own?

BF1 I learned all on my own as I did not have many friends that played. But now that I am part of SyN for BFV, I am constantly absorbing tips and tricks from you all! Whether it be new guns, new routes, or just general knowledge about the game - knowledge is power, and there is always more to learn.

Any tips you have that you would like to share?

ROUTES – if you are looking to improve your game, run “better” routes.

What does “better” mean – attacking the enemy from positions that gives you an advantage as often as possible.

Reason # 1 – everyone has a certain degree of gun skill – so giving yourself the advantage of having the better position will result in more kills and less deaths.

Reason # 2 – when you run a bad route and get yourself downed – you run the risk of getting your squad mates killed when they come in for the revive/support. Squad revives often help us, but they also hurt when the REVIVOR gets put into difficult situations because the REVIVE ran a bad route and got downed. (Squad revives is a whole other conversation that I could have but for the sake of not making this too long, I will save that for another time)

So how do I run “better” routes? Think more strategically about the routes that you run and the positions they will put you in. When you make a mistake in the route you run, mentally note it and ask yourself – how could that route have been “better”? And finally, work to improve in each and every route you run – big or small.

What are your thoughts on BFV?

The game is AWESOME and I have a BLAST playing it! I thank you all for making this experience great. And I am honored that you have all made me the Player of the Month @everyone
